I first met Ian in the mid 1980’s when I was on strike during the Wapping Newspaper Dispute. He was a member of Hemel Hempstead Trades Council and I addressed their meeting asking for their support. The council strongly
backed us. I liked Ian from that moment for his honesty, openness , his passion for justice and a better society. I saw him as a soul brother politically as we seemed to agree on everything.
Over the years we saw each other occasionally , but it is since Ian joined the Dacorum Green Party that we met regularly. It was a pleasure to campaign with Ian in the recent General Election and nearly three decades after we first met to find we still agreed on everything politically.
I last saw Ian a few weeks ago at a Green Party meeting , little realising it would be for the last time. I shall never forget Ian, a man who loved both people and the planet and died whilst doing something he loved so much.
